Varicose Veins, Women and Heart Disease Varicose veins and spider veins are of particular concern for women, for both cosmetic and medical reasons. In addition to traditional surgery when it is needed, board certified vascular surgeons on staff at Baptist use a number of outpatient procedures to treat varicose and spider veins. These include: :: Sclerotherapy, in which a doctor injects spider veins with a solution using a very small needle, causing the veins to fade. None of these procedures requires general anesthesia, and each session takes only about 30 minutes. Women who are at risk for heart disease, as well as those who are already managing related conditions such as high blood pressure, have easy access to information and low cost screening programs at our new state-of-the-art Cardiovascular Center. :: Go to Cardiovascular Services. |
