About Baptist Cardiovascular Services

Baptist’s Cardiovascular Services has a rich history of experience and leadership in the care of patients with coronary and vascular conditions. In fact, physicians at Baptist performed Mississippi’s first open-heart surgery in a private hospital more than 30 years ago.

Baptist continues to be a pioneer in bringing advanced cardiac care to patients in the state. In May 2003, Baptist was first in Mississippi to offer the drug eluting—or drug coated—stents. Baptist was also the first hospital in Mississippi to provide robotic-enhanced, minimally invasive heart valve surgery. And in 2008, Baptist became the first hospital in Mississippi to offer a program focused on the care of patients with atrial fibrillation.
