April 12 - On your mark ... Firefly plans twilight descent on city
The Brick Street Firefly 5K's got a new mascot: longtime volunteer and Lions Club member Frank Murray. Renamed the Frank Murray Brick Street Firefly 5K, the Mississippi Track Club-sanctioned race will once again kick off as twilight descends on the city.

April 24 - Clinton Volunteer Loses Cancer Fight
Frank Larry Murray, 67, a longtime Clinton volunteer known to many for his Lions Club membership, died Tuesday afternoon at his home following a brave battle with cancer. Recently, Murray announced he was donating $40,000 to help construct a guest room at the new Baptist Cancer Lodge in Jackson, to be affiliated with Baptist Hospital’s Hederman Cancer Center. Memorials may be made to the Baptist Health Systems Cancer Lodge or the Mississippi Lions Sight Foundation.

April 24 - Healthplex Sponsors Kids' Triathlon
Kids ages 7-14 can take part in a biking, running and swimming triathlon on May 5 at the Baptist Healthplex to benefit the Baptist Cancer Lodge at Baptist Hospital in Jackson.

October 17 - Contributions Help Outpatient Pediatric Rehab Obtain Equipment
Enabling Parents to Extend Therapy to the Home

Through donations to the Baptist Health Foundation, Outpatient Rehab was recently able to purchase assistive devices that enhance the pediatric patients' communication skills and fine motor skill development. Now, parents can check out needed devices through outpatient rehab’s lending library to help their child improve skills at home. :: back to top

The Gertrude C. Ford Foundation recently made a $100,000 gift to be used toward The Lodge for Baptist Cancer Services.

December 3 - Mississippi Artist Displays Jesus' Love of Children Through Paper Art Exhibit,
Makes Donation to Baptist Medical Center Pediatrics

Maurice Ellis of Madison, Miss. has donated a paper art exhibit themed "God's Love for Children" to Baptist Medical center's Pediatric Unit. Made from variouis types of paper, the exhibit features 30 to 40 paper characters of children gathered around Jesus.:: back to top

December 3 - Volunteers and McAlister's Deli Help Baptist's NICU Start Mother's Milk Program
With contributions from Baptist Volunteer Services and McAlister's Deli, Baptist's NICU now offers the Mother's Milk Program, which provides analyzers that test a mother's expressed milk for the highest calorie and fat content, crucial for infants in their first few weeks. :: back to top
