Kick-off of a Life Changing Marathon Begins This Weekend

Jackson, Miss. – January 27, 2006 - If you have never been a runner, or you have dreamed of finishing a marathon, preparation is underway to train you for the 2006 Chicago Marathon to be held in October. Kick-off meetings will be held Saturday, January 28 at the Baptist Healthplex in Clinton, Miss. at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 at the Healthplex in Jackson.
(Clinton Location – Mississippi College campus 102 Clinton Parkway; Jackson location – across street from Baptist Hospital 717 Manship Street)

The LifeChange Marathon Makeover is a wellness program of LifeChange Counseling Centers, Inc. in connection with the Baptist Healthplex, Fleet Feet Sports of Jackson and Great Harvest Bread Company. Participants train for nine months for the 2006 Chicago Marathon through weekly support meetings at the Baptist Healthplex, group training runs, and Internet support at marathonmakeover.com. Experts in the areas of fitness, running, diet and motivation work with the marathoners to achieve their goal of completing the Chicago Marathon.

“The best thing about The LifeChange Marathon Makeover is that we pull together a diverse group of people, with varying degrees of fitness and work together as a team to accomplish an amazing goal – finish the Chicago Marathon! We have walkers, runners, walk/runners and those who have never been runners participating and it is a life-changing experience to finish the marathon. Our goal this year is to take over 100 participants to Chicago to finish the marathon.” says Mark Simpson, Director of The LifeChange Marathon Makeover.

The 2004 LifeChange Marathon Makeover took twenty marathoners to Chicago for the marathon, and all twenty marathoners finished the race. In 2005, they took 54 marathoners to Chicago, and four finished half and the other 50 all finished.
