Jackson, Miss. – January 17, 2006 - Baptist Health Systems' Samaritan Counseling Services will host two workshops entitled "Health Ministries: Congregational Responses to Wholeness and Health" on February 16, 2006. The first workshop will be from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Epworth United Methodist Church at 1315 W. McDowell Road in Jackson, Miss. The second workshop will be from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Baptist Medical Center Private Dining Room at 1225 North State Street in Jackson, Miss.

The purpose of the workshops will be to envision and implement health ministries in the local church, look at the health needs of a church congregation and its community and identify resources for initiating and implanting ongoing health ministries.

The guest presenter will be Vicki Hollon, D. Min, Executive Director of Wayne E. Oates Institute in Louisville, KY.

“During the workshops, we want to highlight congregations already engaged in health ministry and to explore ways and means to enhance congregational responses to the critical needs of others’ health concerns. This will be a hands-on approach to help foster or create a congregational health ministry for communities,” said Baptist Samaritan Counseling Services Director Dr. Barry Click.

For reservations call 1-800-378-7613 or 601-973-1697, Samaritan Counseling Services, Baptist Health Systems. There will be no fee; however, reservations are needed.
