Baptist Samaritan Counseling Services Receives Accreditation

Jackson, Miss. -June 23, 2004 - Baptist Health Systems Samaritan Counseling Services in Jackson, Miss. has been awarded full accreditation for 2004 - 2008 by The Samaritan Institute based in Denver, Colorado.

"The accreditation process indicates that Centers like this offer professional services within a framework of quality organizational, administrative and financial practices," said Dr. James R. Laurie, executive vice president of The Samaritan Institute.

Baptist's Samaritan Counseling Services was established in 1996 by an independent board representing a cross-section of the community and is supported by local congregations. The Center provides a wide range of outpatient counseling services, including counseling for individuals, couples and families. It also offers educational programs and consultation for professionals and organizations.

Through its affiliation with The Samaritan Institute, Baptist's Samaritan Counseling Services is part of an international network of 96 Samaritan Centers with over 500 offices in 340 communities in 35 states and Japan.
