Jackson, Miss. - December 10, 2004 - Baptist Medical Center was a sponsor of the 2004 Central Mississippi Buddy Walk, which is hosted by the Central Mississippi Down Syndrome Society (CMDSS).

The money raised from the Buddy Walk supports the many educational projects that the CMDSS will be providing for the coming year. One of those projects is the "New Parent Guide" which was recently developed and spearheaded by CMDSS Board Member Shawn Wilkerson of Brandon, Miss.

This guide contains information on Down syndrome, local and national resources, as well as testimonials from parents in Central Mississippi on life with a child with Down syndrome. The guide is provided at no cost to parents who have a baby with Down syndrome, and will be delivered to all hospitals in Central Mississippi that deliver babies for future distribution to parents.

To receive a copy of the New Parent Guide, contact Shawn Wilkerson at (601) 824-7154. For information about CMDSS, go to www.cmdss.org.
