Harlem Globetrotter Scores Big at Baptist's Pediatric Unit
Contact: Robby Channell, 601-968-5135 rchannell@mbhs.org Jackson, Miss. - March 9, 2004--Ethan O'Bryant, a guard with The Harlem Globetrotters, made a special visit to Baptist Medical Center's Pediatric Unit on Tuesday, March 9. He visited patients, signed autographs and conversed with the patients. O'Bryant, a Houston, Texas native, serves as an Advance Ambassador this season, his eighth with the Globetrotters. In this capacity, he travels thousands of miles across the country making appearances at schools, clinics, hospitals and charity events on behalf of the team. O'Bryant has been selected as one of four players to be a part of the Harlem Globetrotters "adopt-a-school" program with Hope Academy in Cincinnati and was among the Harlem Globetrotters to appear at the 2003 World Sports Humanitarian Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Additionally, O'Bryant was a member of the Globetrotters' 1998 Los Angeles Summer Pro League championship team. He has spent the last nine years with the Globetrotters after playing the 1995-96 campaign with Inter Bratislava in the Slovak Republic. O'Bryant was named European League Most Valuable Player and All-Star Game MVP that season while leading his club to the league title. He traveled with the Globetrotters during the team's European tour in the spring of 1998. |
