Baptist Hosts Voter Registration Day

Jackson, Miss. - June 18, 2003 -- Baptist Health Systems is hosting a voter registration drive on July 3, 2003 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the lobby of Baptist Medical Center, 1225 North State Street in Jackson, Miss. The Mississippi Hospital Association (MHA) and Baptist are encouraging Baptist employees and Metro area residents to participate in the next primary elections.

The campaign urges hospital employees and all eligible residents to "Make a Healthy Choice: Vote." The first step is registering to vote. You must be registered at least 30 days prior to the election in which you want to vote. After registering, you will be given a precinct name and the location of that precinct's polling place. The polls are open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. each election day.

"We are having various activities surrounding the day. MHA will have a door prize registration. Anyone who registers during our visit will get a gift. Please make the small effort that it takes to register," said Baptist spokesman Robby Channell.

Channell stated that increasing numbers of people are realizing the benefits of a healthy lifestyle, and exercise and proper diet have become a part of daily routines. "Please register to vote, learn about the issues in the election, form your own opinions and make another healthy choice: VOTE in the next primary elections. You really can make a difference," Channell said.
