Got Questions About Cancer? American Cancer Society and Channel 12 Team Up with Baptist Cancer Services Jackson, Miss. - June 19, 2003 -- The American Cancer Society and WJTV News Channel 12 are teaming up with Baptist Cancer Services to establish a call center for cancer-related questions. On Thursday, June 19, Channel 12 will broadcast live at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. from the Hederman Cancer Center. Baptist Cancer Services healthcare professionals and American Cancer Society staff will be on-hand to answer questions regarding cancer. The American Cancer Society will also answer calls from people who wish to donate to this Friday's Relay For Life. All calls are confidential. "We know when people are diagnosed with cancer all types of questions go through their minds," said Allison Terrell, the American Cancer Society communications director for Mississippi. "During these live broadcasts, we want to give people an opportunity to talk one-on-one with a healthcare professional and have their questions about cancer answered." During the broadcasts, people can call the Baptist Health Line at 948-6262 or 1-800-948-6262 to speak with a cancer healthcare professional. For those who cannot call during this time, the American Cancer Society is always available. The American Cancer Society provides numerous resources and programs to help those with cancer and their families 24 hours a day. Call 1-800-ACS-2345 or visit www.cancer.org to contact someone who understands. |
